so, I sewed...dyi custom camera bag/purse !!

I have always drooled over Kelly Moore's designer camera purse bags, but have not exactly had $250 laying around to buy one. So, when I came across a post from the blog, "Vanilla & Lace," about a DYI camera purse/bag that resembled the designer ones, I was ecstatic! :) I went to Target and bought a purse I liked (I wanted one specifically this color), that would be large enough and sturdy enough to carry my camera, as well as some additional lenses and accessories. I then went to JoAnn Fabrics and bought some fabric that I thought would complement the bag. I won't go into a ton of details because Abi does a much better job explaining the how-to than I could :) But trust me, if I can do this, anyone can do this!! While I would like to think I'm crafty, I am really not, and pretty much have about no sewing experience, other than making pillows a couple times, haha :) So check out the Vanilla & Lace DYI blogpost and make one for yourself (I believe in you!)

Here's a picture of my bag:
(my measurements would be a little more exact if I were to do this again - like I said, my sewing experience is pretty limited, haha).
Inside view:
[Holds 1 DSLR with lens, up to 3 additional lenses (there are little compartments for each that are detacheable by velcro, I only have 1 additional lens), 3 zipper pockets (holding my memory cards, chapstick, keys, phone), 2 open pockets (holding my camera's remote control, battery charger, and USB cord), and there is room on the side to carry a wallet, notebook, etc. If I would have been a little more precise on my measurements for the padding, I probably would have been able to also store my laptop inside as well].

Thank you, Abi from Vanilla & Lace for sharing this great idea with us, cyberspace friends!
We thank you!! :)

hope your day is beautiful,
claire.

elizabeth.

So, I go from not posting regularly to posting two days in a row. That is probably not good "blogger etiquette." :) I suppose it would have been wiser to hold out for a few days before posting more photos since I just posted yesterday, but I was too excited to share the images that came from my shoot with Liz yesterday, so here they are! :)

Elizabeth Julene Orosco,
known to some as "Sassy Pickle" ;)
My friend.
This little lady is a proud Texas native, lover of country music, and has joked that she may just need an I.V. full of sweet tea to keep up with her southern addiction ;) However, Lizzy is no country bumpkin, mind you. An avid bookworm, she loves grammar, punctuation, and the written word...Oh yeah, and if she could have it her way, C.S. Lewis would be her grandpa (but who could blame her, right??).

You are absolutely gorgeous, Liz!! :)

hope your day is beautiful,
claire.

tamara + aaron

I have known Tamara and Aaron from back when I lived in Texas and worked at Teen Mania Ministries and now we all live in Kansas City (what a wonderful thing!). In August of 2005, Tamara and I were interns in the same dorm (can't believe that was almost 6 years ago!!) and a couple years later, Aaaron came along from Bend, Oregon to do the Center for Creative Media - perfect for him since he is an amazing artist!! You may have even seen some of his work in the sweet proposal video that he made showing the creative way he asked for Tamara's hand in marriage - it was featured on Green Wedding Shoes! :)

When Tamara asked me to record some video for them that she could use for a creative project they want to play at their wedding reception, I was overjoyed! :) Not that I have any experience whatsoever when it comes to video (haha), but I almost died with joy at the opportunity to take my little camera around and capture this couple that I enjoy so much! A lot of the video was done at the house, but then we went to Brookeside, ate some of Foo's Fabulous Frozen Custard, and I got to be a fly-on-the-wall and snap photos of these good lookin' folks as we walked around the town.

Tamara and Aaaron - thank you, thank you, thank you! Your love is beautiful and I feel so honored to have gotten to document your lives. Thanks for believing in me :)

Tamara, you are just soooooo beautiful!!

and just in case you were interested, these were our orders at Foo's:
Tamara: Vanilla ice cream cone
Aaron: Chocoloate-peanut butter
Claire: Coffee-chocolate chip
yum! :)
